Pop magazine, double page spread

This double page spread is from a pop magazine however it is based on lifestyle not music, therefore i wouldn't put anything like this in my magazine. The pink represents the pop genre as it is very bright and bubbly, also the pink links to the singer, Selena Gomez, as she looks young and fresh and it all works and brings the whole double page spread together. The large image of the model which is printed over both pages, is something I like as the use of camera angle and positioning of image has been well thought of and really makes the page more interesting! Then the uses of text boxes which have been scattered around the picture also add flavour to the page and make it unique. This page layout really stands out and is different than the usual ‘one picture on one page’ layout The pink and black shapes around the model make her stand out more, and makes the whole dps edgy. I like the layout of this magazine, everything is clear and it all stands out, apart from the text, I would say the font of the actual article is far too small for a pop magazine, personally I think it needs to bigger especially for the younger audience. It has been printed in large black font on top of a white background so that it stands out more to the reader. Each text box has been split into subjects and they have their own information in each separate box.  I think that the image is good for a pop magazine as it takes up the two pages and it is different to most double page spreads which makes it stand out. I think the magazine uses good colours to show its target audience and really sticks to their genre ‘pop’. It also sticks by the target audience a genre by having the article about this particular celebrity because she is a pop singer and a girl, so the page can be full of girly information about her.
Just like any other double page spread, this one has images and good use of layout which makes it good to look at. It also has the usual convention which is, having the page numbers at the bottom of each page and "All about you at the top" which included in every issue.

  1. This is very lifestyle... you must explain where it is from, why you chose it. Eg if it is a good example of layout that has influenced you, say so!
