Q double page spread.

This double page spread is strange as all the text is on one page, the  L is over the text to represent the artist, Lady Gaga. This L also links to the masthead Q, as is it large, red and appears to be the same font. There is not title for this double page spread, the main focus is the A4 photograph of Lady Gaga, also her name, is displayed in the top-right-hand corner. This intrigues the readers they must read to find out exclusive information about a world famous celebrity. She is posed which wold entice readers which find the female form attractive, the clothing adds to this, it is almost seductive. She appears to be represented to the audience as being multi-genred, as she is well known for pop genre of music, however she can resort into a more of a typical rockstar type role. The image has been digitally edited from coloured,to greyscale, this has been done to make the three main colours take over the double page spread, them being; black, white and red. This colours anchor the genre and representation of Q magazine. This photograph is a medium-close up of Gaga, the fact that this image takes up half of the whole double page spread, shows it has significance. The columns of text all have the same distance between each one, this helps the magazine to look more professional and to make clearer to read for the audience.

  1. There are some good comments here on representation and you have analysed this very well. This analysis would benefit from having the key words highlighted . It also suggests that although you are working at Level 3 overall, you could easily move to level 4. Make sure you analyse a DPS for language and register as well as layout. You need to complete this research in as much detail as you can so that you learn for yourself how to create your own pages. Then do a post and say what you have learnt, how you have been inspired by this research. We have also completed theoretical study and i think you could refer to some of the theory we have covered. Go for the Level 4 Ellie!
